“阻止…做某事”的常见句型

(1) prevent sb. /sth. from doing(sth.)
(2) stop sb. /sth. from doing (sth.)
    句型(1)和句型(2)意思基本相同，两者常可互换使用，只是句型(1)更常用;另外，在主动结构中，这两个句型中的介词from可以省略，但在被动结构中则不能省。有时from后的动名词要用被动形式。当句子的宾语(即动名词的逻辑主语)与动名词的关系为主动或称执行关系时，用doing形式;当句子的宾语与动名词为被动关系或称承受关系时，必须用being done形式。(见下面例5、9)如:

1 His back injury may prevent him from playing in tomorrow's game.
2 The heavy rain prevented us from coming to the concert in time.
3 Illness didn't prevent him from going to work.
4 we must，all out to prevent such a thing (from) happening again.
5 No one can prevent，plans from being carried out.
6 I couldn't stop her crying.
7 Why not stop him (from) smoking in bed?
8 Nothing could atop them talking
9 He can't atop the birds from being shot at(by the children).

(3) keep sb. /sth. from doing (sth.)
(4) hold sb. /sth. back from doing (sth.)
    上述两个句型中的介词from一般都不能省略;此外，句型(3)比句型(4)更常用些。如:

1 His ex-wife had kept him from seeing his children.
2 The play was so boring, l could hardly keep myself from falling asleep.
3 The rain kept us from going out.
4 What keeps (prevents) India from developing fast?
5 There sre many cars and buses coming and going, so she had to hold the children back from running out into the streets.

(5) prevent one's doing sth.
(6) stop one's doing sth.
    上述两个句型意思相同，分别等于prevent sb. from doing sth.和stop sb. from doing sth.。如:
1 The rainstorm prevented my driving~to Guangzhou.
2 No one can prevent our going.
3 You must stop his telling them.
4 What can stop our going there if we want to?
