Unit 2 The library is on the left of the playground. 
设计说明
对课文的教学采取由整体到细节的顺序,通过读课文对事件排序、读课文回答问题、读课文猜测故事后续情节发展训练学生的阅读理解能力。通过根据课文内容完成句子提升学生对课文细节的理解和把握。朗读短文,提升学生的口头表达能力;学习新的语言点,继续学习there be句型,促进学生在词汇和语法上的积累和巩固。进行有针对性的写作训练,提升学生的书面表达能力。
教学目标
通过本单元的教学,让学生达成以下目标: 
1. 知识目标
掌握本单元新单词及短语: building, hall, dining hall, gate, library, office, playground, science, lab, behind, between, middle, near, with, for, room。
2. 能力目标
(1)用正确的语音、语调朗读故事,把握故事的细节信息。
(2)正确运用there be句型。
3. 情感目标
通过听说训练,学会用英语介绍方位。

Step 1 Leading in
Show some pictures about school to the students and let them tell the words of the pictures. 
Step 2 Warming up
1. Ask the students to label the pictures with the words and expressions
Answers:

⑦office ⑧playground
2. Ask the students to write Betty’s classmates’ names on their desks. 
Answers: 
Step 3 Fast reading
Read the passage and label the map of the school. 
(1)Ask the students to listen to the recording. 
(2)Tell them to read the passage. 
(3)Tell the students to look at the picture of theschool and ask what they can see. 
(4)Ask where the different places are. Ask them todescribe the school in pairs. 
(5)Tell them to read quickly and check(√)the places mentioned. 
(6)Call back the places mentioned from the wholeclass. 
(7)Ask the students to label the map and check theanswers with the whole class.

Step 4 Careful reading
1. Ask the students to read the passage again. Answer the following questions and check with a partner.

5 Where are the computer rooms and science labs?
2. Check the answers with the whole class.

Step 5 Language points
1. In the middle of the school is a big playground. 
在学校的中央是一个大操场。
◆in the middle of意为“在……中间/中央”。 
 He is in the middle of the room. 他在房间的中央。
2. Between this building and the dining hall is the classroom building with twenty-four classrooms. 
在这幢楼和饭堂之间是教学楼,里面有24间教室。
◆between是介词, between…and…意为“在……和……(两者)之间”。
I sit between him and Lucy. 我坐在他和露西中间。
◆with表示“具有,带有”,是介词。with twenty-four classrooms是介词短语,作后置定语,修饰前面的名词building。
My uncle has a house with a garden. 
我叔叔有一个带花园的房子。
3. …and the building in front of that is for science. ……前面的建筑物是用于科学课的。
◆for意为“为了,用于……”,表目的、用途。
This is a book for children. 这是一本儿童读物。
Step 6 Writing
1. Get the students to look at the sentences. 
The library is in front of the office building. It’s in front of the office building. 
—Is the science building behind the library? 
—No, it isn’t. 
—Are the science labs and computer rooms in the same building? 
—Yes, they are. 
2. Get the students to answer the questions. Use short forms. 
1 —Where’s the playground? — ________ in the middle of the school. 
2 —Where are the science labs? — __________ in the science building. 
3 — Is the library behind the sports hall? —No, ________ . 
Answers: 1 It’s  2 They’re  3 it isn’t
3. Ask the students to answer the questions about their school in Activity 5. 
4. Ask the students to write answers to the questions.
