Dear Frank,
I’m terribly sorry that I didn’t arrive in London last Friday. I hope this did not mess you up completely, although I know that you had already made some special arrangements for my visit with your parents and friends. I’m very sorry about all that. I’m sure you’ll be sympathetic（同情的）, however, when I tell you that my father is dangerously ill in a hospital, and that I found it impossible to leave Boston when he is in this state.
I apologize again and promise I will go to London hopefully sometime next week, when my father is better.
